Dr. Broemel earned her veterinary degree from the Veterinary College of the University of Leipzig, Germany, followed by a clinical fellowship. She then completed a postdoctorate research degree in Leipzig and at the Veterinary School in Paris-Alfort, France, focusing on imaging of the liver and gallbladder in dogs. Dr. Broemel continued her veterinary career with a research fellowship at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, followed by a clinical internship at The Animal Medical Center in NYC. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California-Davis, and stayed on as a clinical lecturer. She earned her PhD at the University of California-Davis, identifying biomarkers of adrenal gland cancers in dogs. Dr. Broemel joins us from the University of Saskatchewan where she was on faculty. She is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
Dr. Broemel has impressive research and teaching experience. She has authored several textbook chapters and has published a number of scientific articles on many topics, including thyroid and adrenal gland diseases in dogs. She has presented the results of her research at numerous national and international scientific meetings, and has taught veterinary students throughout her career. Her love for what she does is evident in her incredible and authentic warmth, humility and accessibility.
