Canine Rehabilitation Therapy
Dr. Hart earned her veterinary degree from Colorado State University, while also completing certificate programs in both Canine Rehabilitation Therapy and in Small Animal and Equine Acupuncture. After completing an internship program in Los Angeles, she pursued additional veterinary orthopedic and sports medicine training and then returned to Colorado State University to complete a residency in Small Animal Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (one of only 4 such residency programs in the country). In her 3-year intensive residency program, Dr. Hart trained under leaders in the fields of canine and equine sports medicine, orthopedics, regenerative medicine, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and rehabilitation. She gained invaluable knowledge of complex musculoskeletal injuries specific to an animal’s sport, advanced diagnostic skills, and progressive rehabilitation strategies. She joined CUVS in 2016.
Dr. Hart brings incredible expertise and passion – to her patients, to CUVS, and to the specialty. Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation is a very new specialty in veterinary medicine. Most practitioners working in the field have undergone certification, but exceedingly few have completed rigorous residency training. As one of these few, Dr. Hart offers a rare knowledge and perspective on musculoskeletal conditions and conditioning, describing herself as a "nonsurgical orthopedist". She is passionate about providing the best guidance and options for the betterment of the patient, regardless of the animal's job as an accomplished athlete, working dog, search and rescue aid, or best friend. She works closely with our orthopedic surgeons and other specialists to ensure that every patient and every family has the best options available.
